This Cannes Palme d'Or winning screwball comedy is a Cinderella story gone wrong, complete with Russian oligarchs, slapstick fight scenes and a Vegas wedding.

In a thrilling, star-making performance, Mikey Madison plays Ani, a tough-as-nails exotic dancer from Brighton Beach suddenly thrust into the lap of luxury when she's whisked away on a whirlwind romance with Ivan (Mark Eydelshteyn), the spoiled son of a Russian oligarch. After their impromptu Vegas wedding, Ani feels like she's living her own version of Pretty Woman… until Ivan's parents send a couple of thugs to demand they annul their marriage, and Ivan bolts. Ani's Cinderella story turns into a hilarious odyssey through New York, complete with frigid boardwalks, illegal parking, vengeful strippers and outrageous slapstick fight scenes.

With this authentic 21st-century screwball comedy, Sean Baker (The Florida Project) tackles sex, love, class and money with matter-of-fact directness and continues to display his mastery in depicting people leading unconventional lives on the margins of society. Winner of Cannes' Palme d'Or, Anora is a raucous, raunchy and refreshingly original comic adventure that must be seen with an audience.
