Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Malcolm X's visit to Dartmouth, Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz will be leading a keynote at Cook Auditorium, followed by a book signing and a reception.
On January 26, 1965, civil rights leader Malcolm X delivered a transformative speech at Dartmouth College, urging students to take an active role in shaping a more just society. To mark the 60th anniversary of that historic visit, we are honored to welcome his daughter, Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz, to Dartmouth on January 26-27, 2025.
Dr. Shabazz, a renowned educator and author, carries forward her father’s legacy by challenging misconceptions and offering a deeper understanding of his life and impact. Through her work, she empowers youth to embrace their identities and fight for positive change.
The event will begin on January 26 with a keynote address, followed by a book signing and reception. On January 27, Dr. Shabazz will engage in intimate, small-group discussions with students, reflecting on Malcolm X’s enduring influence and how his message remains vital today. Join us for this powerful opportunity to honor his legacy and explore how we can all contribute to a more equitable future.
