Timothée Chalamet stars and sings as Bob Dylan opposite Ed Norton and Elle Fanning in James Mangold's latest, nominated for eight Academy Awards.
Inspired by folk icons Pete Seeger (Ed Norton) and Woody Guthrie (Scoot McNairy), a 19-year-old from Minnesota (Chalamet) arrives with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music. Forging intimate relationships with strong women on the folk scene like Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro) and Sylvie Russo (Elle Fanning) helps accelerate his meteoric rise, culminating in a groundbreaking and controversial performance that reverberates worldwide.
Director James Mangold (Ford v. Ferrari, Logan) composes a biopic that doesn't seek to unravel the mystery behind the enigmatic Dylan, but rather completely immerses the audience in the vibrant music scene and tumultuous cultural upheaval in New York City circa 1961. This eclectic true story focuses as much on Dylan as on the die-hard believers in the ideals expressed in folk music—the people who saw him as their greatest hope, then their greatest adversary.
Nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
