Join Dartmouth Libraries for a talk with Desirée Garcia, Associate Professor of Latin American, Latino, and Caribbean Studies, about The Dressing Room: Backstage Lives and American Film. The only book-length study of the space, this book provides a historical analysis of the dressing as a recurrent trope in American cinema where identities like the wife and mother, maid, and leading man are shaped and resisted. Professor Garcia explores how dressing rooms are dynamic realms in which a diverse cast of performers are made and exposed.

Talk followed by Q&A. Light refreshments will be served. Registration recommended.
