GE Aerospace is developing next-generation technologies as part of the CFM RISE (Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines) program. The RISE program encompasses a suite of new aviation engine technology development including hybrid electric capability for more than 20% improved fuel efficiency and 20% fewer CO2 emissions compared to today’s engines. This presentation will describe the key demonstrators and strategic partnerships that are underway to mature the next generation of hybrid-electric components and systems. The talk will include a discussion on the necessary cross-disciplinary technological, manufacturing, and regulatory advancements required for electric machines and power conversion technologies for vision propulsion systems
