Join two of the Hood's curators for a conversation about inclusive and evolving museum practice.
How are museums changing to embrace a more inclusive vision of American Art? Join two of the Hood Museum's curators to hear just some of the ways museum practice is evolving to forefront Native American, African American, Asian American, and Latinx art.
Jami C. Powell (Osage), Associate Director of Curatorial Affairs & Curator of Indigenous Art, and Michael W. Hartman, Jonathan Little Cohen Associate Curator of American Art, are the co-editors of the recently published collection, Reenvisioning Histories of American Art: Transforming Museum Practice, part of the University of Washington Press's Critical Ethnic Studies and Visual Culture series. They will speak about the challenges and possibilities for expanding the canon of American art and some of the ways that sustained dialogue, community engagement, and curatorial collaboration have led to important changes in art curation.
Talk followed by Q&A. Light refreshments will be served. Registration recommended.
Events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
