Biography
I have had two career paths - as a book editor and as a history professor. After college, I worked in the editorial department at Oxford University Press and the Free Press, at the same time obtaining a Ph.D. in European History from New York University. I taught history at NYU, Columbia University, the New School for Social Research, and the University of Pennsylvania. In 1996, I moved to the Upper Valley. I served as editor-in-chief at University Press of New England until 2017.
My writing classes bring together years of experience as a book editor and history professor. I teach students to unite clear thinking and clear writing.
My areas of expertise include modern European history and literature, Jewish studies, and contemporary social and cultural issues.
